Relief Printing Blocks & Photoengravings
Before offset lithography and digital prepress, Taylor Instrument published its product catalogs, corporate letterheads, and commemorative booklets using letterpress relief cuts. These original zinc and copper plates were mounted type-high on hardwood blocks. Because relief cuts strike paper directly, all lettering and portrait orientations are laterally reversed on the metal surface.
Featured Artifact: Founder George Taylor Halftone Cut

Subject: George Taylor (1824–1889)

Usage: Catalogs, jubilee anniversary publications, and company histories.
Note: The fine dot matrix allowed continuous photographic tones to be inked and pressed alongside metal handset type.
